Ten students from the Agriculture study programme at Sapientia University’s Study Centre in Sfântu Gheorghe actively participated in the online qualification phase of the Agrovirtus international digital agricultural management competition.
During the qualification stage, the contestants solved tasks related to situations which were simulated in the AgroVIR farm management software, using real farm data. The aim of the competition is to familiarise university students with the world of agro-industry in a practical way by simulating real and current environmental, business and technological problems that teams have to respond to using the latest agricultural technologies.
After four weeks of virtual competition, from a total of sixty teams, our students achieved the following results:
SapiAgro: 7th place - BODÓ Szabolcs, CSEREI Zoltán, FÁBIÁN Zsolt, VERESS József - 4th year;
Palánták: 16th place - BANDI Melinda, BITAI Barbara, CSŐSZ Albert-Sándor - 3rd year;
3széki gazdák: 38th place – DÉNES Sándor-Attila, NaAGYOLÁH Lázár, RÓZSA Ákos - 3rd year.
The teams were guided and coordinated by Assist. Prof. BÍRÓ Boróka Júlia, PhD.
SapiAgro, formed by 4th year students from the Study Centre in Sfântu Gheorghe, was among the ten best performing teams, and therefore, for the first time and as the only team from abroad, it had the opportunity to participate in the live finals of the Agrovirtus Academy, which took place between November 23-25, 2022, in Gödöllő, Hungary, on the campus of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE).
SapiAgro was represented at the Agrovirtus Academy by BODÓ Szabolcs, FÁBIÁN Zsolt and VERESS József. During the three days of the event, the participants attended professional lectures, preparatory trainings and interesting workshops.
Congratulations to our Agriculture students for their participation in the competition and to the SapiAgro team for an excellent result!
